Who we are

Mission Statement

We advocate for tree protection regulations and enforcement that will increase carbon sequestration, ensure sustainable habitat for wildlife, and create a more resilient, healthy, and equitable environment for our community.

Guiding Principles

  1. Accountability and Effectiveness in Policy
We support the development and enforcement of tree codes and policies that are measurable, consistent, and effective in protecting Edmonds’ urban forest over the long term.

  2. Transparency and Community Involvement
We support policies and processes that allow for meaningful public oversight and collaboration between residents, city staff, and elected officials.

  3. Ecological Stewardship
We advocate for the preservation and planting of native trees and forest systems that support biodiversity, water conservation, and climate resilience.

  4. Commitment to Tree Retention and Canopy Growth
We believe Edmonds’ urban forest should be protected through clear, enforceable policies that prioritize retention of mature trees and the long-term expansion of tree canopy.

  5. Informed and Inclusive Decision-Making
We value data, expert guidance, and learning from other cities to inform our local tree policies and practices.

  6. Education and Community Engagement
We are committed to increasing awareness and appreciation for Edmonds’ trees through public education, outreach, and storytelli.
